Dream Chase With Zhanae

The person we’ve decided to write about today seems to live by the saying “A jack of all trades is a master of none, though often times better than a master of one.” Or shall we say, Jill? An athlete, business owner, music producer, inspirational vlogger/podcaster, and creative director of our magazine, this young woman has managed to navigate her way through the most difficult circumstances in life and come out on top every time with a new skill to boot. Through her experiences, she has decided to serve as a beacon of hope for others navigating the most strenuous parts of their lives.

Jahnea Lauren known professionally as Zhanae Janae is the dose of inspiration you didn’t know you needed.

>>>> “How did you decide to start and become proficient in all of the things that you do?” We ask.

“Since I was a kid, I’ve been pretty certain of myself and my motivations. I used to tell myself that I wanted to be a Mogul amongst other things.” She pauses to laugh. “I said I wanted to sing, dance, act. I’ve always been super talkative, loved beauty/fashion, and loved sports. A lot of things I didn’t get to do because the opportunities weren’t really presented to me when I was younger, but I always told myself that no matter what I would make it happen. For awhile now I’ve just been creating my own opportunities the best way that I could.”

>>>> “That sounds like you have a lot of different interests! How have you managed to explore them without feeling overwhelmed?”

“If I’m being honest, I feel overwhelmed a lot of the time but I just feel like exploring every piece of me is my birthright and I absolutely love having different experiences and learning what I enjoy and what I don’t enjoy.  I found a way to weave everything together in a way that I feel like works beautifully for me and no one can be me like me. The more that I grow, what naturally doesn’t fit just kind of falls off, but I feel like learning every aspect of me has been so fun and helped me to be a more well-rounded person.”

>>>> “You started your podcast The Power Is Mine in the midst of going through a tough situation, then later decided that through our magazine, you wanted to amplify the talents of others. What made you want to follow this path?”

“I feel like being able to push through and talk about my experiences while still trying to motivate people to overcome their own is honestly just a gift that God gave me. When I look back on a lot of the things that I’ve said over the years or done I cringe a little bit, but then I remember that it was probably really God leading me to help somebody through what they were going through. I’ve been in some really dark situations and I haven’t always agreed with my friends or family so I’ve said some things that I can’t take back but we’ve all grown through it and I’m glad that I decided to turn the pain that I had into purpose.”

>>>> On the topic of what led her to work with DuPont Leveaux…

“I’m super reflective so I’m always looking back on what I’ve done, and there was a period of time where I was listening to my old YouTube videos or my old podcast episodes and I just kind of wanted the attention to be taken away from me. I’m actually super shy so I just thought if people keep running into me and telling me how much I inspire them through what I’ve overcame, let me see if I can find people that are inspirations to me and give that to my audience. I know it sounds crazy, but it ended up being such a great thing so I’m glad that I did it.”

>>>> “So with your many interests and trying to find a way to balance everything, what have you found is at the forefront these days?

“I am a creative to my bones, so I always am thinking of the next project and starting something then getting the idea for a new thing sometimes not finishing or just a whole world of ideas going through my head, but right now I’m focused on releasing my first book and after that I’ll be able to settle in a little bit more and make my music while also trying to build my beauty brand. Things are really going well for me in life and I’m learning to take a breath and just go with the flow a little bit more. I’ve accepted everything I’ve been through, forgiven others, forgiven myself, and now it’s time to really live and be at peace with the woman that I’m becoming.
