We would like to shine the light upon a magnificent artist on our radar. @iliaospina

She has beautifully managed to convey her inner world and provide jarring social commentary simultaneously through her art. Her broad range can easily be viewed over the course of her art page @privatelifeonline.

Using oil paint, pastels, watercolor, acrylic, gouache, and the occasional far from rough sketch, many thoughts and emotions are provoked when viewing her works. She seamlessly transitions from one medium to the next and is no less talented in any than the other.

I’ve had the pleasure of meeting her in person, and her soul is quite kind and radiant. A testament to people with this, disposition being able to create beautiful things, even if the underlying message is rooted in melancholy. When reading one of her captions on her post, the most striking statement was the last line.
“May all the oppressors burn, and may the oppressed be the first to light the match.”

I, too share these sentiments. As women our capsulated rage is what drives us to accomplish great feats, and if this rage is not funneled into passion and creation, it can easily become depression. Creation is our liberation.
I wanted to highlight her this women’s history month, because I believe that history is not only what happened in the past, but also what is happening in the present. In present day, she is amazing, so she needs her flowers in present day.
So cheers to her making (her)story.
